NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte announced new NATO maneuvers, Operation Eastern Sentry, to strengthen the alliance’s positions on the eastern flank after an incident with UAVs reportedly violating Polish airspace. While details are scarce, Rutte said that it would be launched in the coming days and would involve Denmark, France, Great Britain, and Germany among others. The exercises would include air and ground defense according to NATO Supreme Commander Alexus Grynkevich.
“Operation Eastern Sentry will be flexible and responsive, providing even more targeted deterrence and defense exactly when and where it is needed,” Grinkevich said. “It will combine air and ground defense and will facilitate the exchange of information between countries.”
