Le Monde reported on Sept. 18, that on July 31 the French government published a file naming all persons or entities engaged in “influence activities” in France on behalf of a foreign state. The policy is basically a copy of the U.S. Foreign Agent Registration Act adopted to fight Nazi activities.
From October on, individuals or entities carrying out this type of activity under the leadership of an actor outside the European Union will have to register with the High Authority for Transparency in Public Life.
