The Russian Foreign Ministry praised India’s open commitment to its multilayered cooperation with Russia and stressed that relations between the two countries are “steadily and confidently advancing…. Any attempt to obstruct this process is destined to fail.”

The Ministry emphasized that New Delhi has continued to strengthen ties with Russia in spite of pressure from the West—particularly in the form of tariffs imposed by the U.S. on India for India’s continued purchase of Russian oil—and that both nations embody what it called, “strategic autonomy in international affairs,” RT reported.

It noted that the Russia-India collaboration is based on “the highest value of sovereignty and the primacy of national interests,” allowing the relationship to be “reliable, predictable and truly strategic in nature.”

Russia and India collaborate across several sectors, including energy (nuclear power and development of the Arctic), military and defense, space exploration (the Gaganyaan mission, satellite deployment and navigation), trade and transport, and science and technology. Both nations are also engaged in the development and expansion of cultural relations.
