Russian-Belarusian Zapad Exercise Gets Underway

It may not be an accident that the Polish drone incident occurred just ahead of the kickoff of the Russian-Belarusian Zapad 2025 exercise at the Borisov training center in central Belarus. NATO partisans have a long history of hysteria over this exercise, with predictions every time that it will be used as cover for a Russian invasion of Europe, or this time, another assault on Kiev from the north. “There indeed are going to be drills. They are routine drills, not aimed against anyone else. It’s about a continuation of defense cooperation and efforts to improve interaction between two strategic allies,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said yesterday, reported TASS.

TASS notes that at the same time, Poland and NATO are holding the Iron Defender divisional drills, which involve about 34,000 troops and 600 units of equipment. Warsaw claims that the maneuvers come in response to the Zapad-2025 Russian-Belarusian exercise.
