Russian-Belorusian Zapad Exercise Ends with Putin Visit and Closing Ceremony

Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin paid a visit to the Mulino training ground in the Nizhny Novgorod Region to observe activities of the Zapad 2025 exercise, reported the Kremlin website. He also inspected weapons and military and special equipment engaged in the exercise. “The event involves 41 training grounds, 100,000 service personnel, and about 10,000 pieces of weapons and military equipment, all of which are modern systems being used in practical combat. The exercise scenarios are based on real experience gained during the special military operation,” Putin said. “As I have mentioned, of the 10,000 units of equipment, 333 are aircraft of tactical, strategic, and military transport aviation. More than 247 vessels are also involved, including surface ships, submarines, and support vessels.”

This exercise was the final stage of joint training of the armed forces of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation this year.”

“During the completion of the main part of the Zapad 2025 joint strategic exercises, a solemn formation of units of the armed forces of the two countries took place at the Borisovsky training ground in the Republic of Belarus,” the ministry said in a statement, reported TASS on the closing ceremony.
