Russian President Vladimir Putin held an informal talk with Woo Won-shik, Speaker of the South Korean Assembly, at the welcoming reception luncheon for the 80th anniversary of China’s Victory Day. According to a statement by the office of the Korean Speaker, during the luncheon the Korean Speaker “interacted with leaders from various countries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Putin.”
The office further noted, “Speaker Woo asked President Putin to pay attention to the 130 Korean companies operating in Russia.” It added, “President Putin expressed special interest in inter-Korean relations and the Korean Peninsula issue, asking Speaker Woo, ‘How do you view inter-Korean relations, and what message would you like me to convey to Chairman Kim Jong-un during the upcoming North Korea-Russia summit?’”
