Gen. Valery Gerasimov, Chief of the Russian General Staff, inspected the progress of combat missions by the formations and military units of the Tsentr Group of Forces operating in the Krasnoarmeysk direction (Pokrovsk, in western D.P.R.), the Russian Defense Ministry reported yesterday. Gerasimov assessed the current situation and heard reports from formation and unit commanders, and other officials on the progress of missions in their areas of responsibility, the Defense Ministry statement said.
“Our troops in the special military operation zone are advancing on almost all fronts. The most intensive fighting takes place in the Krasnoarmeysk direction, where the enemy is unsuccessfully trying to halt our advance and seize the initiative by any means, regardless of losses,” Gerasimov said. “To this end, the [Ukrainian] AFU command has redeployed the most trained and combat-ready units to the Krasnoarmeysk direction, to the detriment of other areas. Such actions are facilitating the advance of our troops in other directions of the front.” Gersimov then summarized the progress of four of the groups of forces operating along the southern and central portions of the front.
