Trump Praises China's Celebration and Moscow Appreciates His Humor

Within minutes of the start of today’s military parade in Beijing, in celebration of China’s 80th anniversary of the victorious end of World War II, U.S. President Donald Trump posted on Truth Social:

“The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and ‘blood’ that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader. Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. I hope that they are rightfully Honored and Remembered for their Bravery and Sacrifice! May President Xi and the wonderful people of China have a great and lasting day of celebration.”

Then he added: “Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America.”

Asked about Trump’s message, Russian President Vladimir Putin today responded: “The President of the United States is not deprived of humor—everything is clear, everyone knows it well. I have good relations with him. We address each other by name.”

He went on to report that, during his many meetings in China the last four days, no one “expressed any negative judgments” and the current American administration, and “all of them supported our meeting in Anchorage, all of them.” All hope it “will lead to the end of the armed conflict. This is without any irony, without any jokes.”

Earlier, his aide Yury Ushakov commented that Trump’s message was apparently made in jest and that “nobody is plotting any conspiracies here.... I can assure that everyone knows the role that the U.S. and the Trump administration, and the President personally play in current international affairs.” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed a similar thought, trusting that Trump’s comment was “figurative.”
