Yesterday, in the Oval Office, U.S. President Donald Trump declared, according to Reuters, that he would not allow Netanyahu and his “Greater Israel” faction to annex the West Bank. He said: “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. Nope, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen. There’s been enough. It’s time to stop now.”
Two days earlier, during Trump’s meeting with Arab and Muslim leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, it was made clear to him that an annexation of the West Bank would have grave consequences. In attendance were the leaders of Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Qatar, Egypt, Jordan, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud said that Trump “understands very well” their message.
