Trump's Former Surgeon General Demands To Fire RFK

In a September 6 CNN interview, Dr. Jerome Adams, the U.S. Surgeon General during President Donald Trump’s first administration, called for Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to be fired. Adams said, “I’m deeply concerned about the health and safety of our nation under RFK’s current leadership.” Kennedy should be fired “for the sake of the nation and the sake of his legacy” due to the “uniquely damaging” role is he is playing.

“I’m just flabbergasted, to be honest, that he seems to have President Trump in a thrall,” Adams added. “President Trump is clearly the leader on foreign policy, clearly the leader on the economy and tariffs. But when it comes to health, he’s doing whatever RFK says.”

Adams has been increasingly vocal in refuting RFK and friends. On August 15 Dr. Adams wrote an opinion piece in the Washington Post, in which he rejected NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya’s comments on mRNA. The development of the mRNA platform and vaccines included “the largest, most transparent clinical trials of their kind in history.” Adams wrote, “These vaccines have been studied for more than 30 years, and billions of doses have been administered globally—and followed up with safety monitoring—since 2020.” The mRNA platform offers unparalleled speed in developing treatments and vaccines.
