UN General Assembly Passes Resolution for Two-State Solution

The UN General Assembly passed a resolution on Sept. 12 reiterating the call for a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. The resolution passed with 142 votes in favor, 10 against, and 12 abstentions. Joining Israel and the United States in opposing the resolution were Argentina, Hungary, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Paraguay and Tonga.

[The statement](https://indianexpress.com/article/world/israel-palestine-two-state-solution-un-declaration-10246442/ called for “tangible, time-bound, and irreversible steps” toward a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. It also calls for “collective action to end the war in Gaza, to achieve a just, peaceful and lasting settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on the effective implementation of the two-state solution.”
