The U.S. signed a deal with Kazakhstan to the tune of $4 billion to build locomotives for their railroad. The locomotives will provide a link between Europe and Asia, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnik said. He did not specify which American companies are involved in the deal or what their role in locomotive production would be. The agreements were reached following a telephone conversation between U.S. and Kazakh Presidents Donald Trump and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. President Trump had previously placed 25% on goods from Kazakhstan. It is not clear if that will diminish as a result of this deal. The jobs will go to firms in Pennsylvania and Texas.
