The Lead

Sometimes, Context Is Everything

by Dennis Small (EIRNS) — Oct. 11, 2025

There are plenty of “ifs” about the recently negotiated Israel-Hamas agreement. What happens if Netanyahu sabotages the deal and starts the war after the hostages are released? What if Hamas doesn’t disarm? What if Tony Blair insists on denying Hamas a role in the Palestinian political process, and instead proclaims that the International Stabilization Force will govern Gaza indefinitely? What if Trump backs Netanyahu in flat-out refusing to tolerate a Palestinian state? What if humanitarian aid really doesn’t get through?

But there is a far bigger “if” that is going to determine the outcome of this crisis, an “if” that is incommensurable with, and more decisive than all of the others taken together. And that is: What if there were a solution to the crisis which addresses it in a fashion which removes the underlying cause of not only this war, but all the other wars raging on the planet? What if sufficient forces among nations and political groupings could be brought to bear to transform today’s bankrupt and criminal international security and development architecture which brought us Gaza, and Ukraine, and on and on? What if we were able to fashion a solution to the Gaza genocide which not only stops it, but also transforms the entire global context which created it in the first place?

Sometimes, context is everything. Thus, the LaRouche Oasis Plan.

As the legendary Father Harry Bury put it in his Appeal to the World To Implement the Oasis Plan: Peace Through Development:

“We have partnered with the Schiller Institute in promoting the Oasis Peace Plan, which is peace through development, particularly financial development. This [idea of a] peace plan is already being implemented [in principle] by the BRICS nations.… The mission for this plan of development is for the developed nations of the planet to stop competing and to cooperate in contributing to the underdeveloped nations so that all the nations experience equity; that every nation be equal to every other nation.”

Circulate Father Bury’s ecumenical call for the Oasis Plan and peace through development, and for the nations of the West to join with the Global Majority’s unshakeable drive for an end to colonialism, to the leaders of all religions, all denominations, every church, every mosque, every synagogue. It is the growing mobilization of disparate forces around the planet that has gotten us this far in stopping the Gaza genocide. Now let’s mobilize to put an end to all the “ifs” with a new international security and development architecture.
