On Oct. 7, CIA Director John Ratcliffe published more declassified, though largely redacted, documents. A particularly revealing one, with some background for the Russiagate operation, was a Feb. 10, 2016 governmental email from (Presidential Daily Briefer) “PDB Briefer” sent to the CIA that exposes then Vice President Joe Biden in suppressing his and his family’s corruption in Ukraine. It simply read: “Good morning, I just spoke with Vice President/National Security Adviser and he would strongly prefer the report not/not be disseminated. Thanks for understanding.”

The report in question said that Ukrainian officials in the administration of then-President Petro Poroshenko “expressed bewilderment and disappointment” at Biden’s December 2015 visit. They viewed the alleged ties of Biden’s family to corruption in Ukraine as evidence of a double-standard within the U.S. government towards matters of corruption and political power.

Of some note: Biden’s son Hunter had a highly paid position at Ukraine’s Burisma company, and Joe Biden is on record, bragging about pressuring Kiev into firing a prosecutor general who was investigating Burisma. Then, Hunter’s 2019 laptop includes his report that 10% of the proceeds from international contracts go to “the Big Guy.” Even though he had made much of his neutrality, saying that he would intervene with a pardon, in December 2024, Biden signed one which shielded Hunter from any prosecution for crimes committed between 2014 and 2024.

Also on oct. 7, Kremlin investment aide Kirill Dmitriev—the primary negotiating partner with U.S. President Donald Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff—took notice. He posted on X: “The truth is coming out—and justice must follow.”
