Qatar will build a military facility at Idaho’s Mountain Home Air Force Base to host its F-15 jets and train pilots, the U.S. and Qatar jointly announced on Oct. 10. Mountain Home already hosts F-15’s from Singapore, but apparently they don’t have their own facility like Qatar will be allowed to build. U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth announced the agreement, sitting alongside Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, who was at the Pentagon on Friday.
The Oct. 10 announcement followed an executive order issued by U.S. President Donald Trump a week ago, to increase U.S. protection of Qatar in the wake of the Sept. 9 Israeli strike on Doha, aimed at Hamas negotiators, which killed six people.
