The IDF attacked a vehicle near Gaza City, reporting that was a “suspicious vehicle” that was “crossing the yellow line.” (It remains unclear, and unlikely, that there is any clearly marked boundary. The “yellow line” is where the IDF says they’ve withdrawn to.) The IDF says that the vehicle approached IDF soldiers “in a way that caused an imminent threat to them.”
Gaza’s Civil Defense spokesman Mahmoud Basal told CNN that, with coordination from the UN, they were able to recover on Oct. 18 the bodies of 9 of the 11 people in the vehicle. On Friday, Oct. 17, it had been reported that a car with some women and children in it had been shot at by Israeli forces. But now, the numbers are known: In the car were 9 women and children, and 2 men. While 2 children are missing, all the rest were known to have been killed.
