Los Angeles County Declares State of Emergency Over ICE Raids

On Oct. 14 the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted 4 to 1, in favor of a declaration of a state of emergency over the immigration crackdown. The emergency declaration allows county officials to use state and local funds to provide everything from legal aid to residents to assistance for those that have fallen behind in their rent payments due to the crackdown. The county intends to mobilize resources for communities facing economic disruptions, workplace insecurity, and schools facing lower attendance. The declaration was introduced by County Supervisors Lindsey Horvath and Janice Hahn.

Supervisor Hahn posted on X: “It’s official. We have declared an LA County state of emergency in response to these lawless ICE raids. This emergency proclamation is not just symbolically important—it is critical to our response…. We will use every tool at our disposal in this fight.”
