Lukashenko Announces That Oreshnik Will Be Put on Combat Alert in December

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko announced that Belarus will be putting the Oreshnik missiles deployed in their country on combat alert, starting in December. He said this is a defensive measure, given the turbulence in the region, but that Belarus is not intent on entering any war. “But these are uncertain, unknown times when we must endure. We must endure these times. If we endure, our children will live. If we don’t, we will plunge into this abyss. There are more than 50 conflicts and wars in the world now. I would not want us to be involved in 51. But I promise you that we do not want to fight, that we will not get involved in this war if they do not bother us. This is precisely the main task of the President and the government.” He added, however, “If you come to us without permission with your hobnailed boots, we’ll give you a bang.”
