Melania Trump Maintains an Open Channel to Putin on the Issue of Children

In a surprise appearance at a White House press availability, U.S. First Lady Melania Trump announced that eight children had been returned to Ukraine from Russia, thanks to her efforts in the matter. President Donald Trump had presented a letter from Melania to Russian President Vladimir Putin in their Aug. 15, 2025 meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, where First Lady Trump had indicated that she wanted to set up contact with him on the matter of the children.
