Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the IDF to “carry out immediate and powerful strikes in the Gaza Strip,” his office said Oct. 28. The statement come shortly after an incident in which an Israeli soldier was reportedly killed by a sniper in southern Gaza.

In response, Hamas issued a statement which reported that its armed wing, Al Qassem Brigades, had found the body of another deceased hostage, but said, “We will postpone its delivery, which was scheduled for today, due to violations by the occupation.” The statement added: “We emphasize that any zionist escalation will hinder search, digging, and retrieval operations of the bodies, which will lead to a delay in recovering the bodies of the occupation’s dead.”
