Russia Denounces Belgian Defense Minister for Threat To ‘Wipe Moscow Off the Map’

RT reports on Oct. 30 that Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Grushko has accused Belgian Defense Minister Theo Francken of irresponsible rhetoric, after the latter suggested that NATO could “wipe Moscow off the map.”

The news service reports that, in an interview with the Flemish newspaper De Morgen published on Monday, Oct. 27, Francken brushed off concerns that the currently shelved delivery of U.S.-made Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine could trigger an all-out war between Russia and NATO, arguing that Russian President Vladimir Putin would not use nuclear weapons, because the U.S.-led alliance “will wipe Moscow off the map.” Francken added that he did not fear a conventional attack on Brussels, since it would result in Moscow being “flattened.”
