The various reports and comments, that U.S. President Donald Trump may release long-range Tomahawk missiles for Ukraine to use in deep strikes into Russia, did not go unnoticed in Moscow. Commenting on this rumor, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that such deliveries “will create a new, serious round of tension.”
“Indeed, American officials in interviews this week discussed the possibility of delivering such missiles and generally considered the possibility of strikes deep into Russian territory,” Peskov recalled, according to TASS. “This is, of course, a rather dangerous symptom, and it cannot go unnoticed in Moscow. We have noticed it. And if this were to happen, it would be a new, serious escalation of tensions that would require an appropriate response from the Russian side.” He also indicated that there is no “magic pill” or “magic weapon” for Kiev.
Peskov also expressed relief that there are no talks about giving Ukraine nuclear weapons. “Thank God for that,” he said.
