Sudanese Leader To Attend Russian-Arab Summit, While Sudan Battles Ukrainian Mercenaries

The head of the Sovereign Council of Sudan and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces Abdel Fattah al-Burhan will take part in the first Russian-Arab Summit, where he is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Sudan’s Ambassador to the Russian Federation Mohammed Sirraj, told Izvestia.

“Mr. Chairman [Abdel Fattah al-Burhan] will take part in the [Russian-Arab] summit, and a bilateral meeting with Putin is expected,” the daily quoted the ambassador as saying, reported TASS.

Sudan appears to be fighting the same enemy as Russia, amid reports the the Sudanese army has eliminated Ukrainian and Colombian mercenaries, who had been fighting alongside the Rapid Support Force (RSF), the brutal militia that has been fighting Sudan’s central government since 2023 and conducting massacres among the Sudanese population.
