Despite Hamas’ acceptance to pursue the new peace agreement, and despite U.S. President Donald Trump’s demand that Israel halt its strikes, the bombing still hasn’t stopped. Over the course of Oct. 5, Al Jazeera reports that 24 Palestinians have been killed, citing local sources. Reuters cites witnesses reporting that Israeli planes and tanks pounded areas across the Gaza Strip, destroying several residential buildings.
Amjad Al-Shawa, head of the Palestinian NGOs Network, which liaises with the United Nations and international humanitarian organizations, told Reuters that Gaza City has begun experiencing acute shortages of food and fuel, days after Israel blocked the route from the south to the north. There are also reports that Israel is moving ahead rapidly with plans to greenlight the expansion of settlements in the West Bank.
