Speaking at the beginning of the Third Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security on Oct. 28, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko warned that the “so-called civilized world has come to an end.” He pointed to the fact that all the organizations that had the function of maintaining a broad dialogue among the nations of Eurasia, including the OSCE, have all subscribed to the war-mongering program of the EU, with the exceptions of Hungary and Slovakia. He also pointed to Poland’s unilateral decision to close the border to Belarus, putting a break on the international traffic and trade between Europe and Asia. He also noted Lithuania’s attempt to prevent people from attending the Minsk conference by closing its border with Belarus. “This is the 21st century: closed skies, barbed wire and a complete rejection of dissent, and this is just the beginning,” he said.
“Their policy of illegal sanctions and new dividing lines—be it ideological barriers, border closures, or the closure of the skies—is a direct path to self-isolation from the world we aspire to. A world that has taken a step forward, where the need for conflict-free coexistence, tolerance, and respect for differences is paramount. In short, a world in which the global majority has recognized itself as a full and equal participant” Lukashenko went on. He also warned of the build up of countries’ nuclear arsenal, noting that the decision to place Oreshniks in Belarus was simply a response to the European decisions to build up their military arsenals.
