Trump Calls Gaza Peace Agreement a 'Momentous Breakthrough in the Middle East'

U.S. President Donald Trump hosted a Cabinet meeting on Oct. 9, following the news that Hamas and Israel had agreed to the Gaza agreement the night before on Oct. 8. Trump began the meeting with the development, saying: “Last night we reached a momentous breakthrough in the Middle East.... We ended the war in Gaza and—on a much bigger basis—created peace, and it’s going to be a lasting peace, hopefully an everlasting peace.” He also said it will be “a complicated process” to get the hostages back. Trump continued by saying that he may go over to the region next week and do an official “signing.”

“Gaza is going to be slowly redone. You have tremendous wealth in that part of the world. And just a small part of what they make will do wonders for Gaza,” he said.
