Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has invited U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur on Oct. 26-28. Trump is reported to have accepted the invitation. Former Prime Minister Dr. Mahathir Mohammad issued a statement on X calling on Anwar to “recall” the invitation to Trump, sending a “clear message” to Trump that “he is a criminal and a murderer of children who has no place in Malaysia,” due to his direct responsibility for the U.S. support of the Israeli genocide in Gaza and for the U.S. vetoes in the UN which prevented others from stopping the slaughter.
U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer has just returned from Malaysia where, he told the press, he had meetings with ASEAN leaders who are “all moving towards final, formal deals with the U.S. to open their markets.” He said Trump will conclude a number of trade deals while on his visit to Asia.
