Speaking at the APEC Summit on Oct. 31, Chinese President Xi Jinping laid out a five-point program for maintaining development in the Asia-Pacific region.
First, he called on the countries “to preserve the multilateral trading system.” Second, he said, “we should work together to build an open economic environment in the region. We should keep promoting trade and investment liberalization and facilitation, deepen fiscal and financial cooperation, and steadily push for regional economic integration.”
