Chinese leaders from several ministries have held a series of meetings and phone calls with European leaders, explicitly trying to strengthen relations in the midst of the economic crisis driven by the U.S. tariffs and sanctions. The meetings include:
• Chinese Vice Minister of Commerce and Deputy China International Trade Representative Ling Ji on Nov. 25 met with Timo Jaatinen, Finnish Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment. This is the 75th anniversary of relations.
• Commerce Minister Wang Wentao held a phone call on Nov. 24 with Peter Szijjarto, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary.
• Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, the Chinese lead person of the China-France High-Level Economic and Financial Dialogue, held a video call with France’s Minister of Economy, Finance, and Industrial, Energy, and Digital Sovereignty Roland Lescure on Nov. 24.
