Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is holding “strategic dialogues” with fellow foreign ministers in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, during a Nov. 19-22 tour of those Central Asian nations, Global Times reported Nov. 20. Collaboration on expanding infrastructure connectivity and strengthening economic and security cooperation are on the agenda.
A leading topic in his discussions on his first stop, Kyrgyzstan, was advancing the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway. Both sides underscored that this rail line is “a strategic Belt and Road project. Wang and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Zheenbek Kulubaev agreed that their countries will strengthen cooperation in civil aviation and logistics and security, including “jointly” combatting terrorism, separatism and extremism.
