The November 7 issue of EIR’s weekly magazine has been released, with a dual focus on the horrors of a potential 21st Century World War on the one hand, and on the other, a powerful depiction of the method of thinking needed for the world to chart a different course. On the former subject, we feature a gripping presentation given by former MIT professor and nuclear weapons expert Dr. Ted Postol to a meeting of the International Peace Coalition, in which Dr. Postol portrays in stark detail what a nuclear war would actually look like. Making this subject even more palpable, we include an article by Carl Osgood on the current breakdown in nuclear treaties between the U.S. and Russia, and why the expiration of New START in 2026 could have disastrous consequences.
In conjunction with this picture, we present a package on Nicholas of Cusa and his “coincidence of opposites.” This concept has been stressed repeatedly by EIR Editor-in-Chief Helga Zepp-LaRouche as the most important method to overcome contradictions, and was explicitly evoked by Pope Leo XIV during an address to tens of thousands of pilgrims in St. Peter’s Square on Oct. 25. This subject took up a major portion of last week’s meeting of the International Peace Coalition, on which we include a report, and was most powerfully communicated by Father Harry Bury, whose remarks to that meeting we also include. To fill out this picture, we republish a phenomenal 2001 presentation by Zepp-LaRouche on the occasion of Cusa’s 600th birthday, which should be required reading for anyone wanting to learn more about Cardinal Cusa. Not to be forgotten is an excellent review of Jacques Cheminade’s brand new book Répondre au cri du peuple [Answering the Cry of the People], written by Christine Bierre. The book was released on Oct. 15 in French and informs readers of Mr. Cheminade’s life as a defender of the best traditions of the French Republic.
EIR’s weekly magazine provides invaluable insights that you won’t find anywhere else.
