German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, who gained universal blame for his comment that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) were doing “the dirty job for us” in Gaza, has a talent for making friends. He has again made a fool of himself with comments on Brazil. Speaking at a trade conference in Berlin, he said: “We live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Last week I asked some journalists who were with me in Brazil: Which of you would like to stay here? No one raised their hand. “They were all happy that, above all, we returned from this place to Germany.”
Merz was scolded by Pará state Governor Helder Barbalho: “Pará opened its doors and showed the strength of a welcoming people. It is curious to see that those who contributed to global warming find the heat of the Amazon strange,” Helder Barbalho wrote on X.
