Missile Defense at Center of Russia-China Military Talks

Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov and vice-chairman of China’s Central Military Commission Zhang Youxia held talks in Moscow on Nov. 20. A major topic involved how to deal with U.S. President Donald Trump’s “Golden Dome” project. A statement by the Chinese Defense Ministry said there was “an in-depth exchange of views on the relations between the two countries and the two militaries, the international and regional situation and issues of common concern,” and the two sides had “reached consensus on strengthening high-level exchanges and deepening practical cooperation.”

Belousov said that his ministry hoped to work with China to “develop a new cooperation blueprint” for defense and that military cooperation was based on “mutual trust and understanding of each other’s interests.”
