Orban Charges That European Leaders Are Playing with Fire

In his weekly interview with Kossuth Radio on Oct. 31, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the emergence of powerful new weapons systems is leading to a new arms race and is causing the world to drive toward war, reported the Hungarian Conservative. “Everyone is talking about increasing military budgets,” and that Europe is risking repeating the mistakes in the pre-war years of 1914 and 1938. He sharply criticized EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, who had said that Europe must be prepared for war in five years. “We must decide now that Hungary will not be drawn into war. We must stand firm on the side of peace,” Orban stressed.

He said that only one major world power is seeking peace, and that is the United States. Unfortunately, European leaders do not support Trump’s efforts.
