Energy cooperation was one of the topics at the Nov. 26 meeting between the Presidents of Russia and Kyrgyzstan, with a focus on expanding the use of natural gas and hydroelectric power, but they also discussed nuclear power. Russia is exploring the possibility of building the first nuclear power plant in Kyrgyzstan using advanced Russian technologies of small modular reactors.
Rosatom is also implementing a large-scale program for the reclamation of uranium mining sites in Kyrgyzstan.
