South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Ronald Lamola confirmed on Nov. 23 that South Africa would not hand over the G20 Presidency for next year to Marc Dillard, who is Deputy Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria. The U.S. will be the host of the G20 for 2026 on Nov. 22-23.

Lamola briefed the media on the sidelines of the G20 on Nov. 22,reported the South African.

“We did not deny anyone access, the United States is a member of the G20, and if they want to be represented, they can still send anyone at the right level. It’s the leaders’ summit, and the right level is head of state. It’s a special envoy appointed by the President of that country. It could be a minister,” he said.
