The Coincidence of Opposites Is the Method for Establishing World Security and Development

The International Schiller Institute convenes in Paris for a two-day conference on Nov. 8-9, the third of its kind this year. The first occurred in the United States in May; the second took place in Germany in July. The purpose of those conferences, and of the Nov. 8-9 conference, is to embody and encourage a process of public world-deliberation, by all willing citizens, on the fate of civilization, of humanity, and of the future.

This is not only our right, it is our responsibility. “It is altogether fitting and proper” that a new direction for humanity, such as the Bering Strait Tunnel Project, discussed by Russia with the United States this past summer in the context of the Trump-Putin Anchorage summit on Aug. 15, should also be deliberated upon by men and women of no rank, but of the highest standing—that of free, thinking citizens. People, especially young people from all over the world, can convene and organize emergency international town meetings for peace through development.

A new strategic and development architecture for the world is not, and must not be thought to be, the exclusive provenance of the so-called “elites” of the trans-Atlantic world and their lackeys, like criminal Marco “Little Caesar” Rubio. Rubio’s U.S. State Department, with its multiply-connected, racism-tinged assaults on nations in South and Central America, Africa and Asia, particularly Southwest Asia, is getting its playbook from the City of London—but that cannot excuse the players. (Watch Executive Intelligence Review’s interview with Graham Fuller [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdt0G32y7D8], intelligence officer, Islamic scholar, and a representative of the Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity. The VIPS just wrote a letter to President Donald Trump, warning him of the lethal consequences for the United States of pursuing even the threat of war with, and regime change in Venezuela.)

The Anglosphere’s dying Malthusian world-order, presented at “world-class gatherings,” including the Davos World Economic Forum, or the COP30 conference now transpiring in Brazil, is a “no-future,” one-way ticket to Hell. In contrast, actions now being taken by the BRICS (Brazil-Russia-India-China-South Africa) alliance, coupled with scientific and technological breakthroughs underway in various nations, particularly Russia and China, have meant that a new era has already appeared for mankind, in which the pre-established colonial and post-colonial “Rule of Law and Disorder” is now over.

Today’s Schiller Institute conference over Nov. 8-9 is particularly informed by Pope Leo XIV’s Oct. 25 Jubilee proposal that the work of the great theologian, scientist and diplomat Cardinal Nicholas of Cusa (1401-1463) be made known to the widest possible public audience. Helga Zepp-LaRouche has been the world’s most public proponent of the work of Nicholas of Cusa for the past four and a half decades, and has, most recently, led a three-year campaign for nations to return to Cusa’s key notion, “the coincidence of opposites,” as the method to arrive at a higher notion of humanity required to prevent, and then abolish war—before war abolishes humanity itself. Her Ten Principles for a New International Strategic and Development Architect remain the most advanced short statement of this Cusan method, and it is of the greatest importance that both the leaders of nations, as well as the people themselves, understand why the admonition of Pope Leo XIV that Cusa be immediately studied and applied to the Ukraine, Gaza, Sudan and other conflicts, any of which can trigger, for “nonlinear” reasons, all-out thermonuclear conflict. The “coincidence of opposites must supplant the obsolete, bankrupt practice of ‘power geopolitics.’”

We are now living, as Russian President Vladimir Putin has said, in a manifold of complexity that requires a philosophy and diplomacy to match our situation. Our actual world is quite different from the present popular “virtual reality” of hype, branding, opinion-molding, and perception which merely seems to determine and dominate things, but is actually very fragile. A power outage from a storm is all it takes to end virtual reality for millions in several parts of the United States. And a seemingly “local” event in one part of the world—for example, a “remote” location in Congo—can result in seismic changes in other locations “only remotely” connected. Just as every area on a sphere, no matter how straight or flat it may appear, is characterized by curvature—even at the infinitesimal level—so every act to change war into peace, every act of education in the science of physical economy, if it is characterized by love for humanity, bends the moral universe, not only to justice, but to prosperity.

The name for the Paris conference is “The Emancipation of Africa and the World Majority, A Challenge for Europe.” By the year 2050, if present trends continue, nearly all of Europe’s nations will have suffered demographic contraction, if not near-collapse. The continent of Africa, on the other hand, will have a population of between 2 and 2.5 billion people, whose median age will be 25 years old. That will be 1 billion people under the age of 25, only 25 years from now.

Africa is not now, and will not be then, in 2050, overpopulated. Space is not the issue. You can fit China, Russia, the United States, Pakistan and India, now totaling 3.7 billion people, all inside the continent of Africa at the same time, with room left over. But if there is not an immediate “anti-colonial” revolution of economic development in Africa, chaos, including mass migration into Europe and elsewhere, will result. The issue is that education, health care, power, sanitation, and a physical economy and institutions of self-government can provide for that. If the trans-Atlantic world continues to operate on the belief that Africa cannot, and, in fact, should not, govern itself, as Henry Kissinger believed, then it will create the very chaos it seeks to escape.

What is needed is a new idea of humanity. “The basic assumption for the new paradigm is, that man is fundamentally good and capable to infinitely perfect the creativity of his mind and the beauty of his soul, and being the most advanced geological force in the universe, which proves that the lawfulness of the mind and that of the physical universe are in correspondence and cohesion, and that all evil is the result of a lack of development, and therefore can be overcome.” That is the tenth of Helga Zepp-LaRouche’s “Ten Principles for a New International Security and Development Architecture.” The Coincidence of Opposites is the method by which such an “overcoming” of evil can occur. Understanding and mastering that method is the subject and aspiration of the International Schiller Institute Paris conference.
