Who Is Behind the Trump Attacks on Nigeria?

The government of Nigeria has been in contact with the Trump Administration to expose the fact that there is no “Christian genocide” underway in Nigeria, contrary to what U.S. President Donald Trump has insisted in his fact-free claims in recent weeks. The Trump administration’s attacks on Nigeria, like similar, arbitrary accusations made against the governments of South Africa and Brazil, involve efforts to destabilize countries that are members or partners of the BRICS.

In a Nov. 10 interview with Sky News, Nigerian Minister of Information and National Orientation Mohammed Idris said: “We believe they are getting a better understanding of the situation. We also believe that the information being peddled is as a result of a lack of a proper understanding of Nigeria’s diversity and the complexity of our security situation.”

Idris also asserted that there are direct connections between U.S. lobbyists and terrorists in Nigeria, who are out to overthrow the government, and that these lobbying networks have gained access to high-level U.S. officials.

O’tega Ogra (who identified himself as Senior Special Assistant on Digital/News Media to the President of Nigeria) posted on his Linkedin page an article dated Oct. 15 in which he identified the U.S. lobbying firm as Moran Global Strategies, led by former U.S. Congressman Jim Moran. The group in Nigeria, he stated, is the Biafra Republic Government in Exile. Nigerian courts have ruled that group is an arm of the Indigenous People of Biafra, which was declared a terrorist organization in 2017.
