A Dec. 12 article published by the Atlantic Council warns Washington officials that they are misunderstanding China and the speed at which it is advancing. The Council recently teamed up with the Hoover Institution to send a delegation to Beijing, supposedly to better understand how China’s economy is working and what its strengths and weaknesses are. “Washington needs to understand two facts that we witnessed on the ground,” the authors write. “First, the new generation of Chinese technology is—at least in some sectors—as good or better than what US companies are producing. Second, China is deploying AI faster than the United States is, and that trend is about to go global.”
