Naval forces of the BRICS Plus nations will hold joint naval exercises off the coast of South Africa from Jan.9-16, 2026 on the theme, “Joint Actions To Ensure the Safety of Shipping and Maritime Economic Activities.” A statement from the South African National Defense Force states, “This theme reflects the collective commitment of all participating navies to safeguard maritime trade routes, enhance shared operational procedures and deepen cooperation in support of peaceful maritime security initiatives.”
