As many as 1,000 tractors and 10,000 farmers descended on Brussels on Dec. 18 to protest the EU’s agriculture policy. EU bureaucrats and EU leaders decided to flee, probably fearing the pitchforks. Inside EU headquarters, national leaders were discussing financial support for the corrupt regime in Kiev. Outside farmers hurled potatoes, eggs and fireworks. Burning tires spoiled the climate for the friends of Zelenskyy.

Farmers have particularly opposed the Mercosur agreement, which they believe will allow the importation of cheaper food from South America. One Belgian farmer said that EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and the EU are becoming a dictatorship. In general farmers are dissatisfied with product pricing, fertilizer costs, and other regulations.
