Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Wednesday, Dec. 10. According to the Russian President’s website, the topics of discussion included matters related to the further development of the Russia-Indonesia strategic partnership, as well as current international and regional developments. In his remarks before the meeting, Putin said: “You and I had a meeting during the celebrations of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II in the People’s Republic of China. During this meeting, we talked about continuing our direct personal contacts. We are very grateful to you for taking part in-person in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum in June.” He also put emphasis on the potential for nuclear power cooperation between the two countries: “Our two countries have significant potential in energy, including nuclear power. I know that your country has plans in this regard. As for us, we remain at your disposal should you wish to reach out to our specialists.” Moreover, Putin noted Indonesia’s participation in the BRICS as “a very welcome development for us.”
