Angelo Giuliano, an Italian journalist who has lived in China since 1995, is currently in Caracas to get an on-the-street perspective of Venezuela under pressure from the U.S. In a Dec. 6 posting on his X account, Giuliano reported on an encounter he had with another Italian, whom he referred to only as “Carlo,” in an upscale neighborhood of Caracas “where some foreigners and hard-core anti-Maduro people live.”
“He is extremely pro-U.S. and is working, probably illegally, with an ‘NGO’ funded by the EU,” Giuliano writes. “He was top-notch when it came to talking about security and strategy to decapitate Maduro’s government in a night move on the presidential palace using very powerful bombs, a combination of strategic strikes, and power cuts. It was a mix of interesting scenarios but also a lot of wishful thinking. It was fascinating to gradually hear his shift from the mainstream media’s usual talking points to admitting that the U.S. is the aggressor.”
