In a lengthy interview with Greta van Susteren in Minsk on Dec. 15, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko was asked about the possibility of a U.S. military action against Venezuela. He warned that it could become another Vietnam. He said that he knew President Nicolás Maduro quite well. “He is a Chavista,” said Lukashenko. “He is like [Hugo] Chávez. He will not give up.” Resolving the question between the two countries could only be done through negotiations, he said, implying that the issue of drugs was not the true reason for the conflict.
