Russian-Indian Collaboration on Supersonic Cruise Missile Project Moves Forward

BrahMos Aerospace is a joint Russian-Indian company founded in 1998, and is named after the rivers Brahmaputra and Moskva. The BrahMos supersonic missile has been in service since 2007, and is a “long-range, ramjet-powered supersonic cruise missile that can be launched from submarines, ships, and fighter aircraft,” according to Wikipedia. More detailed information about the missile and its mission may be found on the BrahMos Aerospace website.

The future version, BrahMos-II. is currently under development; it will be a hypersonic cruise missile “expected to have characteristics similar to the 3M22 Zircon. Development could take 7–8 years to complete.”
