Sen. Rand Paul Warns, Redistricting Drives May Lead to Violence

Republican Sen. Rand Paul (KY) warned on Sunday, Dec. 14 that the escalation by both parties to gain absolute majorities by ramming through redistricting can lead to violence by disenfranchised minorities who feel they have no voice, that the electoral process has failed them.

NBC News’ “Meet the Press” hostess Kristen Welker asked the Senator at the end of her interview with him if he supported President Donald Trump’s campaign for Republican states to redraw Congressional districts to gain absolute majorities. Senator Paul warned that the negative effect of both parties now escalating their efforts—Democrats where they are dominant, Republicans where they are—to redistrict to secure majorities will lead to “tension and civil unrest.”
