There are at least 111 confirmed cases of measles in the “Upstate” area of South Carolina, according to the state’s Department of Public Health. In a news briefing, State Epidemiologist Linda Bell stated that, of the 111 known cases in South Carolina, 105 involve people who were completely unvaccinated and another 3 who were only partially vaccinated. There are currently at least 254 people in quarantine, including 16 who are in isolation. Officials report that 20 of the Upstate cases involve children under 5 and that another 75 cases were detected in children between 5 and 17. Vaccination rates in South Carolina have dropped from 96% in 2020 to 93.5% in the 2025 school year. Many of the cases are in the town of Inman, S.C.
