Diane Sare kicked off her campaign for the U.S. Presidency with an in-person and world Zoom event Jan. 10 in New York City, bringing together seasoned New York State campaigners, alongside leading U.S. strategic experts, with notable international messages of support. The 500 attendees included some 150 in person at the Lower Manhattan meeting room, and others from across the U.S. and world.
The three-hour gathering, co-chaired by long-time LaRouche movement collaborator Elliot Greenspan of New Jersey, and Anastasia Battle of Michigan, co-moderator of the International Peace Coalition, featured a presentation of substance by Sare, as well as by fellow New Yorker Jose Vega, who is running for U.S. Congress in the 15th C.D. (the Bronx), followed by a series of 20 hard-hitting short briefings, some in person, some by video, live or pre-recorded. They addressed topics ranging from the immediate danger of escalation to nuclear war, to the prospect of great infrastructure projects for humanity.
Some individuals announced their official endorsement of Sare for President, others did not formally do so, but there was unanimity in expressions of appreciation for her courage and principles to provide a voice of sane, moral leadership at this critical time, when the United States and the West have veered off course so dangerously.
To open the event, Sare herself conducted a chorus, which beautifully led the singing of the national anthem, followed by a Bach-harmonized setting of “Jesu, meine Freude,” which dates from the time of the Peace of Westphalia ending the Thirty Years’ War, whose significance Sare pointed out. Then followed “Chester” (William Billings) from the time of the American Revolution.
The event’s participants included key parts of the network that succeeded in doing the impossible in 2022 and 2024: putting Diane Sare on the ballot in New York State by petition, twice for U.S. Senate, meeting a signature requirement of 45,000 valid voter signatures each time. No one else has succeeded in this feat, showing that money cannot buy nor stop Sare. She announced she will not be taking super PAC funds; but rather asked every individual to give their personal maximum allowed by election law. She also released the first issue of her campaign newspaper, The New Federalist.
Sare: Join Me, Make the United States a Voice for Peace
Sare opened her address, “We wake up today, and we don’t know what’s next: is it Iran, is it Greenland, is someone else going to get shot? What is going to happen?” She then gave a world and national situation report, from the vantage point of what citizens must do to roll back the drive toward war and economic collapse, and promote world economic development and peace. She struck as a key theme, “The truth is, that history is actually not made by the stronger, or the more terrifying, or the more violent. History is made by people who are prepared to risk everything to defend what is actually true. It is made by the meek. Hind Rajab will be remembered and Bibi Netanyahu will not—if we survive.”
Sare made a point of describing the life and ideas of statesman-economist Lyndon LaRouche, with whom she had worked since 1988. She spoke of his childhood in New England, mastering Leibniz as a teenager, and then going on to intervene in world affairs.
She gave a synopsis, with graphics, of key concepts of LaRouche’s economics, for example, his 1995 depiction of the “Triple Curve Collapse Function,” warning of the divergence and crash dynamic of a “money” economy, with no physical economic development.
Another critical concept is that of LaRouche’s Strategic Defense Initiative. She said, “LaRouche’s idea was a ‘science driver’: that you develop a scientific capability that the U.S. and the Soviet Union work on simultaneously to reap the spin-off benefits, as we did from the space program, and to create the conditions where you can eliminate nuclear weapons.”
She recounted how the evil forces went after LaRouche (1989-1994), wrongfully jailing him, and others, including Paul Gallagher, present at the event, and his wife Anita Gallagher, who recently passed away.
Sare ended her formal opening by answering the question, “why now” for her campaign. “I am launching my campaign now because the entire world needs the United States to be a voice for peace. John Quincy Adams and Alexander Hamilton would be celebrating the BRICS-Plus developments. They would be celebrating the end of colonialism. Shouldn’t we be celebrating our 250th anniversary by supporting the end of the British liberal system?
“So we cannot wait until 2028. We have to do this now. I’m asking everyone here to join me.”
Harley Schlanger, President of The LaRouche Organization, thanked Sare for running, so that people do not have the hopeless recourse to vote “for the lesser of two evils.”
A Leader for a ‘Time of Crisis’
Many short statements gave grave warnings about the present world situation, along with endorsements or comments on Diane Sare’s campaign.
Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and leader of the Schiller Institute, sent a straight forward message from Germany that the world is in a state of shock. Sare is the best woman for this time of crisis, and the Sare campaign echoes the leadership initiatives of Lyndon LaRouche. From France, Jacques Cheminade, Chairman of the Solidarité et Progrès party, pointed out that Diane Sare is well known for saying what she means, and doing what she says.
U.S. Army Col. (ret.) Douglas Macgregor, prominent and experienced analyst, who endorsed the Sare campaign, warned that Washington’s greed and self-interest have led to a growing financial and political storm. Dennis Fritz, retired Air Force Command Chief Master Sergeant, currently a respected analyst and advisor, gave his support to Sare because someone is needed who can “save us from ourselves.” He expressed his concern that permanent warfare will lead to nuclear war.
Scott Ritter, former U.S. Marine officer and UN weapons inspector, addressing the gathering in person, said that the war danger right now is worse than the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. We no longer live in a constitutional republic if the President says that we do not need international law, because he declares himself to be the law.

Gerald Celente, writer, activist and analyst, gave his support to Sare, calling for “peace on Earth, good will to all,” and pointed out that in February 2025, President Trump called for cutting the military budget in half, but is now calling for spending $1.5 trillion on the military. Steve Starr, nuclear war expert, denounced how officials in Washington and NATO have lost all fear of nuclear war. He showed a frightening animation of an exchange of intercontinental and shorter range nuclear missiles that could annihilate all civilization. He called for everyone to support Diane Sare.
Garland Nixon, well known podcaster and interviewer, spoke in person about today’s crisis, saying that Sare has the right message for this dangerous moment. A video message was then shown from Father Harry J. Bury, a long-time Minneapolis-based peace leader. He reported that he lives four miles away from where Renee Good was recently murdered. Speaking near the end of the meeting, he denounced the mistaken idea that peace could ever be achieved by violence. Bury gave as an example of true peace, the LaRouche Oasis Plan for Southwest Asia.
Visualize a World of Development
Congressional candidate Jose Vega, among other ideas, posed the vision of a developed world, where you could travel by high-speed train from the southern tip of South America to the southern tip of South Africa. Carla Figuereo, a young engineer from New York City, filled out the vision even more, in remarks toward the end of the meeting: The Bering Strait Tunnel could transform the world. She described the Oasis Plan for Southwest Asia, where the provision of abundant water can be part of the basis of bringing together Jews, Muslims and Christians.

Messages from scientists addressed necessary aspects of physical economic development, and scientific activity. From Italy, Dr. Franco Battaglia discussed the need for more and higher-mode energy use in the world. John Shanahan, a long-time nuclear power advocate in the U.S., gave his support to Sare, and called for large-scale infrastructure projects worldwide.
Farm Leaders: Independent Agriculture, Glass Steagall
Several U.S. farm leaders sent in video messages expressing appreciation for Sare being a voice for independent, family farming, including Mike Calicrate, Kansas- and Colorado-based cattleman and direct-food marketer; James Moore, a leader of troll fishermen in Alaska; and Jim Benham, the former President of the Indiana Farmers Union, who stressed the importance of Glass-Steagall banking practices and parity pricing for farm commodities. Moore pledged to help the Sare campaign in Alaska.

The former mayor of Muscatine, Iowa, DeWayne Hopkins also sent a message of best wishes, read by Robert Baker, friend of the Sare campaign, stressing the importance of international cooperation. Muscatine, on the Mississippi River, is in the heart of the North American Farm Belt. China’s President Xi Jinping twice visited Muscatine, first as a provincial official (1985), then as President (2012). Farm leaders have invited Diane Sare to visit the Farm Belt before Spring planting.
The event made clear how eager Americans from across the country, from a wide range of backgrounds, are hungry for real leadership to restore America to her founding principles. Those in attendance were certain that they found such leadership in Diane Sare.
