The EU and India concluded a free-trade agreement on Jan. 27, characterized by Ursula von der Leyen as “the mother of all free trade deals.” At a preliminary glance, based on EU and Times of India coverage, the elimination of tariffs on 90% of goods will allow EU countries to export more cars, beer and food products, and India to export textiles, apparel, leather, gems and jewellery, marine/seafood products, chemicals, and consumer goods. Apparently, EU agriculture products are protected or initially so.
