Federal Prosecutors in Minneapolis Threaten Mass Resignation

The turmoil inside the Minnesota U.S. Attorney’s office has continued to grow since federal prosecutors there were instructed not to investigate the Jan. 7 murder of Renée Good and, instead, to build a legal case against her family. This week federal prosecutors in Minneapolis notified U.S. Attorney Daniel Rosen that they may resign en masse, due to their frustration over the corruption and coverup of the murder. At least one prosecutor already resigned this week over the handling of the Jan. 24 murder of Alex Pretti, and six prosecutors resigned from this office earlier in January. Since President Donald Trump returned to power, this office has lost about half of its lawyers.

Any officer-involved shooting would typically require an investigation by FBI agents and federal prosecutors from the criminal and civil rights divisions of the Justice Department. The FBI had briefly begun an investigation into the Renée Good shooting, when a political decision was made to redirect the investigation.
